Notes: Calder is knit from pointed end to pointed end, back and forth in rows. Each of the 18 triangular sections of the scarf (see schematic) is referred to as a ‘segment’; by the end of each full repeat of Chart A, two segments have been created. Each segment is bordered by a single stocking stitch ‘spine’; the spine is on the right hand of each decreasing segment and on the left of each increasing segment.
The scarf is reversible so there is strictly no RS or WS, however for the purpose of making the pattern clearer to follow, the RS is the side where the straight edge of the first half of knitting is on the right hand side and on the left side on the second half of knitting. The first st of every row is slipped knitwise with yarn in back (kwise wyib).

For clarity, you can find the written instructions for rows 6-47 here (NB though listed in on our errata page, this is not errata!)
