Caligula
Caligula is a vest worked in two separate parts. The front is knitted in the round in stranded colourwork, then the neck, the armholes and the sides are opened up with a steek. The back is worked flat with one colour. Once the front and the back are seamed together, the edges are worked by picking up the stitches around the borders.
Two versions available, shaped and straight.
For this pattern you will need sport weight yarn (250-350 m/273-383 yards/100 g) in two colours: 540-660-780-920-1030 meters
(590-722-853-1006-1126 yards) in MC and 215-260-310-365-410 meters (235-284-339-399-448 yards) in CC.
Samples shown in BC Garn Bio Shetland (100% organic Shetland wool, 280 m/306 yards/50 g).
Please note that, due to the lightness of the Shetland fibre, the yarn used has a very generous yardage. Make sure any alternative yarn you use gives you the same gauge.
Needles: 3.5 mm (US 4) circular needles (or size needed to obtain the gauge) to knit the front in the round.
3.25 mm (US 3) needles to knit the back flat.
2.75 mm (US 2) circular needles to knit the borders in the round.
