Calixtus features a Japanese lace centre panel flanked by horseshoes and mock lacy cables.

The motifs are charted only. The centre motif contains patterning on both the RS and WS.

The sample scarf was knitted in two parts and grafted at the centre. Instructions for making the scarf in a single piece are included in the pattern.

Calixtus is part of my series “Primstaven,” which was inspired by feast and festival days on traditional Norwegian stick calendars. St Calixtus’ birthday was celebrated on 14 October, which marked the first day of winter on the primstav.
