Calliope Cowl
In Greek mythology, Calliope is the Muse who presides over eloquence and epic poetry. Her voice was said to be ecstatic and harmonious, and she was called the chief of all Muses. She is the inspiration for the Calliope Cowl, a meditative pattern that is specifically designed to make those special variegated skeins of yarn in your stash sing! Have you ever noticed that the stockinette stitch in knitting is perfect to show off the beauty of variegated yarn? The Tunisian Full Stitch does the same for crochet.
Worked in fingering weight yarn using only one stitch, the Calliope Cowl is the perfect pattern for the special skeins that you’ve been saving! You can easily increase or decrease the width and depth of the cowl by adding or subtracting stitches and rows. This pattern is worked flat from the bottom up, and uses buttons to ensure the right side of the cowl is always facing out.
This pattern uses approximately 800-850 yards of fingering weight yarn.
