Caltha Palustris
Worked from the top down using double increases to create a wide, shallow crescent shaped shawl that wraps snugly around the body. Written for one size, but can be adjusted by using finer or thick yarn and appropriate needles.
The pattern directions are charted. Some experience with stranded and intarsia techniques is recommended before starting this project, as both techniques are used in the colour work section. This pattern does not include a tutorial for those techniques.
Two contrasting skeins of yarn are required, no less than 395 yards each. Two-colour sample used 372 yards yellow yarn and 376 yards green yarn: the floral section was entirely stranded.
Floral motifs can use same weights of scrap yarn; allow approximately 2 yards per flower. If scraps are used, the flowers are worked using intarsia technique, with the background colour stranded behind each flower.
Intarsia and stranded colourwork can affect gauge; if needed, adjust your needle size for that section of the shawl.
Due to the nature of downloadable products, all sales are final.
