“Calzone” is a “Trapeze Net”, Half-PI Shawl (or Scarf) - or an Italian Dish, depending on your personal reference point.

I am sitting in my local Italian trattoria, dinner comes, I look down and Holey Calzone! I see a half-PI shawl with holes - what inspiration!

“Trapeze Net” is about doing larger knitted pieces in a “fishnet” type pattern without a series of complex tap-dances to get there. It is all about speed, flow and creating a larger piece with holes to eliminate weight and use less yarn. “Trapeze Net” is a lot like a trapeze act: swinging back and forth, sending a rope over, and joining 2 together - thus the name.

The samples were done in Fingering weight yarn using US 9 circular needles….but that being said - you could do this in any weight yarn.
I used 1 skein of Malabrigo Arroyo, and about 1 1/4 skeins of Cozette.
You can also adjust the depth of the item if you start running short.

As always…for my friends at Auburn Needleworks.
