Camellia, introduced in the US in 1786 by French botanist Andre Micheau, is a southern classic and state flower of Alabama.

This toe-up knit sock showcases a Russian lace pattern that combines traditional yarn overs, tiny cables, and Bavarian twisted knit stitches. Sock has full gusset with a patterned or ribbed faux flap heel.

Sizes are Small (Medium, Large) to fit a ball of foot measurement of 8.0, 8.75, and 9.5 inches 20 (22, 24) cm. The lace pattern gives this sock generous stretch, so if in-between sizes, you may want to make the smaller of the two.

Pattern includes options for tapered or rounded toe, generic or calculated foot length, ribbed or patterned heel flap, and Russian or Picot bind-off.

MATERIALS

Yarn: Sample size Medium pair of socks was knit with 1 skein (400 yd/366m) of Barking Dog Yarns fingering weight Achilles; 80% SW wool, 20% nylon; color, Japanese Cherry. For a leg longer than 4.5 inches (~11.5 cm) above the ankle, you may need more than 1 skein.

Needle: 24 inch (60 cm) circular needle(s) US 1 (2.25 mm) and optional for leg ease US 1.5 (2.5 mm).

Gauge: In stockinette in round 9 stitches, 12.5 rows per inch (35 stitches, 49 rows per 10 cm) using size US 1 (2.25 mm) circular needle.

Other: Cable needle, at least 3 closed stitch markers, optional safety pins.
