Cancer Ribbon Filet Square Afghan
The above pattern is a derivative of Mary Maxim’s Cancer Awareness Afghan (kit) designed by Cheri Jackson, adapted with permission from Mary Maxim. It is to be used for personal or charity purposes only and should not be shared in the Files section of e-mail lists or anywhere else except for the proper link.
This particular version uses 10 ribbon squares and 10 plain squares, taking nine 6-ounce skeins of Mary Maxim Best Value pink yarn (color #736614). You can use this pattern to make different sizes. I have done 9, 12, and 20 square afghans. You can make 2 1/2 squares out of one skein. Don’t forget to order enough yarn for your border.
The squares were assembled with a whipstitch and with a picot border (sc, ch 2, sc) in same st added
Hook size will depend on what yarn you decide to use. For most afghans I’ve used an H hook for the body and a G hook for the edging.
