This beautiful pattern is the third of our baby blanket Zodiac sign series to appear in our catalogue. Cancer ‘The Crab’ shows the symbol and a cute picture which can be made as a buggy/pram blanket in double knit or cot blanket/rug in Aran. The hook size is one below normal which allows the filet picture to stand out and be more noticeable. A contrast edging can be used to great effect as shown, or one colour can be used throughout. Pictures of how to create stitches in the border are included in the PDF files. We have developed the pattern in 2 different formats to follow: in grid/block chart pattern to follow throughout and written instructions for the first 10 rows to start you off and get you going.
The 2 yarns used were a light green and yellow DK and the pattern created a good sized baby blanket approx height 67cm approx width 88cm. The blanket could also be made larger by adding plain treble rows to the top and the bottom.
Knowledge of filet crochet is needed to be able to do this project, however this is a good starter filet project to have a go at as it is not a hard pattern to follow. Filet crochet is not hard to learn and there are plenty of you tube videos online to help.
