- The editors of the book note: "This sweater is knit from side to side. the width is determined by rows per inch. Length is determined by the number of st[itche]s cast on after sleeves have been knit. Please work to achieve the correct gauge.
- Four sizes are offered ranging from 39 inches (99cm) to 55 inches (139.5cm) finished chest measurement. A schematic gives other key measurements. A chart shows important neckline shaping.
- Although knit flat, 29 inch circular needles are recommended to comfortably hold the large number of stitches.
- The eyelet stitch pattern is a simple repeat described in words, not charted
- Knit in two pieces and highly dependent on both row and stitch gauge to attain the correct measurements, this is described as a pattern for advanced knitters.
