I’ve always wanted to use the lovely Candle Flames pattern in a sweater design but didn’t want to disrupt such a large pattern with shaping. Instead of displaying the pattern on the front, I incorporated it into the sweater back, which is largely composed of rectangular segments. For the front and sleeves, I used a stitch pattern variation of the eyelets composing the center of the flames. In this yarn with a slight halo, the pattern adds a bit of texture and visual interest while maintaining the indistinctness of real candle flames. The drape of the yarn, due to the alpaca content, gives the sweater a relaxed fit, giving the sweater a casual feel while displaying a stunning stitch pattern.
