Candles & Coffee Socks
A Sock Pattern designed by Julia of The Happy Knitting Podcast

I came up with this pattern right after moving to a new home in a new country. At the same time most of us are stuck inside, either in full-on lockdown or just generally spending more time at home, inside, trying to stay safe and healthy.
One thing that always brings me comfort and joy is lighting candles. Together with my favourite all-time drink in the world – coffee – this was the atmosphere and spirit in which these socks came to my mind.

The pattern is both relaxing, yet slightly challenging thanks to the pretty combination of texture and lace. It requires just enough thought to keep you entertained and focused on what’s in front of you while still being relatively quick and simple to knit.
The texture stitch makes for an extra-cozy, stretchy fabric that I personally love to wear on my feet.
As usual, my pattern is very much a “recipe“ which means I will give you my way of knitting these socks but you can experiment with different heels, cuffs, toes and make the socks to your liking!

I hope you enjoy these socks as much as I did! Happy knitting!
xx Julia

Yarn Tips
I would recommend a solid, tonal or very slightly speckled yarn for this pattern. You can of course use “crazier“ variegated yarn as well, but be aware that the pattern most likely won’t show up as clearly as it would with a more solid yarn.
