Candle wax, dripping ice cream, slime… There are a lot of different ways to see the drip design on these stranded colourwork socks! They feature corrugated ribbing at the top of the cuff, thirteen rows of two-colour stranded colourwork, and a band heel.

The band heel is one of my favourite heels of all time as it results in a heel flap without a gusset-- perfect for patterned yarn, as the consistent width means the stripes or colour pooling doesn’t get that distortion that sometimes happens around the gusset. The colourwork ends well before the heel though, so you can substitute your favourite heel if you want.

I originally wrote them as a more beginner-friendly counterpart to my Folk Horror Socks pattern, so they can be bought both separately and in a discounted bundle with that pattern. In my opinion these socks would be a decent choice for those new to colourwork, while the Folk Horror Socks are more suited to those with some experience.

The Candlewax socks require two colours of sock weight yarn, with around 35 grams of the main colour and 20 grams of the accent colour (if doing contrast heel and toe). The pattern is written for two different sizes (Size A = 64 stitches, Size B = 72 stitches), with advice included as to how to alter the pattern for other sizes.
