Included in the Notes section of the pattern, there are instructions for if you want a standard candy cane with even sized stripes instead of the varying sized stripes shown in the example.

This pattern is incredibly easy and uses only easy stitches --- single crochet, half double crochet and double crochet. It works up quickly too, which is great if you’re trying to get more than one finished before Christmas!

The construction is straightforward. You make strips (almost like garlands) and then wrap those around a wire wreath form. You could even use this pattern to make a circle wreath is you prefer. You would just have to adjust the number of strips you make.
