Measure your bust circumference and choose the best size for you. Note that brioche stitch will stretch while using and washing, so take it into account.
- bust circumference: 76-83 (83-90) 90-98 (98-104) cm / 30-33 (33-35) 35-38 (38-41) inches
- sweater circumference: 105 (112) 123 (133) cm / 41¼ (44) 48½ (52¼) inches
- lenght (measured mid back including collar): 55 (56) 58 (62) cm / 21½ (22) 22¾ (24¼) inches
INSTRUCTIONS:
Candy Wool Sweater is an oversize model based on the brioche stitch. It is worked from the top down with arm increases on the yoke. This project doesn’t require sewing at all.
MATERIALS:
- 350 (350) 400 (450) g Drops Melody by Garnstudio (50 g = 140 m / 153 yds) or Drops Air by Garnstudio (50 g = 150 m / 164 yds), work with one strand of yarn or
- 350 (375) 400 (450) g Drops Brushed Alpaca Silk by Garnstudio (25 g = 140 m / 153 yds), two strands of yarn are held together throughout and the yardage given is the total yardage needed
Note! If you don’t have experience with hairy yarns, such as the Drops Melody or Drops Brushed Alpaca Silk, choose the Drops Air. Working with that yarn is much easier and pleasant.
NEEDLES & ACCESSORIES:
- circular needles:
1) 3 mm (US 2½) 40 cm (16’’),
2) 4 mm (US 6): 40 cm (16’’), 100 cm (40’’),
3) 5 mm (US 8) for the Drops Melody or Drops Brushed Alpaca Silk or 5,5 mm (US 9) for the Drops Air: 40 cm (16’’), 60 cm (24’’), 80 cm (32’’), 100 cm (40’’) or longer
- double-pointed needles 3 mm (US 2½) or circular needles 3 mm (US 2½) 100 cm (40’’) to finish the sleeves with the magic loop technique
GAUGE:
Prepare the gauge before start knitting your sweater – it is very important to achieve the size below:
10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 inches)= 11 sts x 36 rows in brioche stitch
on 5 mm / US 8 for Drops Melody (one strand) / Drops Brushed Alpaca Silk (two strands are held together) or 5,5 mm / US 9 for Drops Air (one strand), after blocking.
Note that 11 sts is the equal of the 11 brioche stitches (i.e. columns), the yarn over is not included into the total stitches amounts given in the whole pattern. 36 rows in brioche stitch count as 18 knit stitches in one brioche column in 10 cm / 4 inches. If your swatch is too large use smaller needles or work tighter. If it is too small - use larger needles or work loosely.
