I created this shawl after producing several mini-shawls for a class I taught in beading. The shawl is a crescent which grows from a tab start at the centre top. The body of the shawl is stocking stitch with a band of seed stitch across the top edge and then there is a large section of beaded coral lace which flows into a more open lace border.

The yarn I used was Isager Strik Spinni and I greatly enjoyed the contrast between the somewhat rustic yarn and the beads I used. This pattern is most suited to a solid or semi-solid colour so that the stitch pattern is in the foreground. The shawl can be made with or without the addition of beads.

Both charted and written instructions are included in this pattern. All the lace stitches are worked on the right side only, and the beads are placed on the stitches before they are worked. The lace stitches used in this shawl include 4 versions of a double decrease, and double yarnovers.

The blocked and relaxed piece as knitted measured approximately 53cm deep with a span of 165cm, but the final size will vary according to your own choice of yarn and needle, as well as your own knitting tension.

Requirements:
2.75mm US2 knitting needles, or your preferred size for knitting your laceweight yarn.
100g 600m/657 yds of laceweight/2ply yarn. I had 14g left over.
Size 08 beads – 600 allowing for duds.
0.75 - 0.8mm crochet hook for adding beads
Stitch markers if you use them
Wool needle to sew in ends
