This lacy scarf/stole can be made as long as you like as the edging is attached in the usual Shetland manner. The focal stitch is quite an unusual one that looks wonderful knitted in lace weight (as seen here) or in fingering or sport weights. It has a nubby texture, and comes to us from Russia. The traditional fairly ornate Shetland edging highlights the focal stitch in a way that shows it off to its finest.
You’ll enjoy making and wearing this scarf/stole. The finished size of the one in the sample is: This scarf/stole is 14 1/2 - 18 inches wide and 71 inches long.
It will certainly become one of the most versatile garments in your closet, so you can be sure that it will be worn (and admired) often.
Skill Level: Intermediate (assuming a basic knowledge of lace knitting).
The scarf/stole was expertly test knitted by Lisa Light who can be contacted at: emeania @gmail.com . The sample was knit with Lorna’s Laces Helen’s Lace, which is a lace weight yarn.
