This easy-to-hook blanket inspired by traditional wedding ring quilts is sure to impress! A self-striping yarn and a contrast yarn are both carried throughout the whole blanket, making color changes easy.

Size: About 44 by 72 inches (112 by 183 cm) as shown.

You can make a wider blanket by adding 1 or more pattern repeats to the foundation row. You can make a narrower blanket by decreasing your starting chain 1 or 2 pattern repeats. See the Other Size Options section of the pattern for some examples of smaller sizes.

Light, dk, or light worsted weight yarn (light, category 3).

You will need 2,166 yards (1,982 meters) of main color yarn, the self-striping yarn in the sample. The main color yarn is the background yarn.

You will need 538 yards (492 meters) of contrast color yarn, the solid white yarn in the sample. The contrast color yarn creates the moon outline.

The sample blanket used 4 cakes of Lion Brand Mandala yarn in Dragon (100% acrylic; 590 yards (540 m) per 150-gram cake) with about 1/3 of a cake left over as the main color and ½ ball of Bernat Baby Sport yarn in Baby Taupe (100% acrylic; 1,077 yards (984 m) per 300-gram ball) as the contrast color.

The whole blanket is double crochet stitches (US terms) except for the first row of single crochet to get it started. Both the main color and the contrast color yarn are carried throughout the whole blanket. See the Pattern Tutorial at the end of the pattern for help with carrying colors and changing colors.

The pattern PDF includes both written directions and a chart. You can follow either one. The chart can be read from left to right or right to left.
