Canyon Rim Shawl
The majesty and rhythm of Utah’s canyon country inspired this shawl. Strong horizontal lines and arches, all on a mammoth scale are reflected in this design.
The Canyon Rim Shawl has shaping that hugs your shoulders, similar to shawls from the Faroe Islands. Myrna Stahman explains this approach in detail in her book, Stahman’s Shawls and Scarves. There is a center back panel with a triangle panel on each side. Each triangle panel is worked at first as two separate triangles to shape the shoulders; then integrated to become one triangle. This creates the shoulder hugging shape you can see in the pictures.
Seed beads adorn the shawl. The beads are placed with a small crochet hook; no bead stringing is required.
The shawl is 42 inches at neck, 70 inches at bottom edge, and 12 inches long.
Purchase both this pattern and the classic triangle shaped Canyon Trail Shawl pattern for a total price of $9.00.
