Canyon River Shawl
Canyon River is a large asymmetrical triangle shawl. I used Handspun Hope’s ethically sourced cotton as the star main color. This lovely cotton yarn is handspun on a drop spindle in Ethiopia by women working for a small cooperative comprised of single mothers. The yarn is then imported to Rwanda where the ladies of Handspun Hope complete the process of dyeing it organically using locally sourced plants. Once the yarn is dry, the spinners then ply the yarn with spinning wheels into a two-ply yarn. What a joy this yarn is to knit. It’s raw and soft and has gorgeous color!
The edges of the shawl were allowed to have an unfinished look to match the rustic nature of the yarn.
