Canyon Song Shawl
This is the eighth pattern in the Souvenir Skeins collection - inspired by the places we visit, and designed for those special skeins that make their way home with us. Each pattern will use just one or two skeins to make the perfect stash buster for all your most treasured yarns!
This pattern was inspired by my visit to Grand Canyon National Park! I was amazed by the depth of the canyon, the layers of rock, and the winding river in the bottom. I pulled inspiration from the colors and shapes of the canyon itself, as well as the textures and layers of the canyon walls.
Basic Information:
Pattern is written in US crochet terms.
Yarn: Sport weight yarn (weight 2). Small size used approximately 465 yards. Large size used approximately 700 yards. I used Mary Gavan Yarns Canyon in the color “Branded” for the small sample, and Manos del Uruguay Feliz in the color “Fjord” for the large sample.
Hook: 3.75 mm, or size needed to meet gauge.
Finished dimensions: Small: 21” wide, 53” long. Large: 32” wide, 53” long.
Gauge: After blocking - 19 sts by 8.5 rows should measure approximately 4” square. Also, before blocking, rows 1-9 (in pattern) should measure 4” long by 2” wide (small size) or 4” long by 3” wide (large size).
