Cape Cod Gansey for Kids
This sweater is worked in the round, bottom up to underarm, and then worked back and forth after the armhole bind off. The sleeves are picked up and knitted in the round using magic loop from the armhole to the cuff. If you prefer, you can use double pointed needles. Place stitch markers at the side seams. Stitch markers are also helpful to indicate the changes between chart motifs.
The sweater is intended to have approximately 2” of ease so that it will fit over a shirt.
It’s important to make a gauge swatch as everyone knits at different tensions. Decrease or increase needle sizes to get correct gauge if necessary.
This sweater works well in most wool or wool blend yarns that are DK/Worsted weight.
