Squishy garter and a gorgeous geometric lace pattern combine to create the simple beauty of the Capistrano Shawl. Capistrano is an asymmetrical triangular shawl knit with one skein of fingering-weight yarn. Tonal, semi-solid, or solid yarn is best to show off the lace pattern and unique decorative bind off.

Needles & Notions:
US size 6 (4.0 mm), or size to obtain gauge, 24–32 in/60–81 cm circular needle recommended.
A kitchen scale to estimate yardage.
Locking stitch marker (optional)
Row counter (optional)

Yardage:
437–450 yd/400–411 m fingering weight merino or blend.

Gauge:
In garter stitch, 21 sts and 44 rows per 4 in/10 cm (unblocked). 20 sts and 40 rows per 4 in/10 cm (blocked). Exact gauge not crucial, but a large discrepancy in gauge, especially row gauge, will affect yarn usage.

Final Measurements:
76 in/193 cm wingspan, 14 in/35.5 cm depth, depending on yardage used.
Measurements taken after blocking.
