Part of The Tripods Collection commemorating the 30th anniversary of the BBC tv series, which first aired at 5.25pm Satuday 15th September 1984. The early scenes concerned The Capping Ceremony, a right of passage marking the end of childhood and the beginning of adulthood at 16 years of age. In reality, the cap was fitted to assert domination and control over the humans remaining on Earth, keeping them docile and unquestioning. Click here for more information.

The lace pattern on the front of this hat is representative of the Cap itself, while the stocking stitch detail shows the probes that lay under the skin.

The pattern is written in full, but the lace section is also charted for those of you who prefer that!

Hat is worked flat and seamed using Mattress Stitch.
