Materials Needed:
5 and 5.5MM Hooks
Worsted #4 weight yarn - 230 yards
Sewing needle
Sewing pins
1 piece of 22 x 9.5 inch fabric in a coordinating color
Sewing Machine (not 100% necessary, but very helpful)
Notes:
This pattern creates a 10.75 inch wide by 7.5 inch tall handbag with 2 short straps.
It is written in US terms.
You will need to know sc, hdc, dc, blo stitches. You will also learn a how to decrease a sc and dc into 1 stitch.
This pattern is worked in joining rounds.
There will be instructions at the end of the pattern to help you sew a fabric lining if you choose.
Abbreviations & Terms - US Terminology:
Ch - chain
Sc - single crochet
Sl St - slip stitch
Hdc - half double crochet
Dc - double crochet
BLO - back loop only
Dec - decrease - not a standard decrease - explained below
St - stitch
R - round/row
- stitch count and added notes
Join - sl st into chain
Dec - insert hook, yo, pull up a loop, yo, insert hook in next st, yo, pull up a loop, yo, pull through 2 loops, yo, pull through last 3 loops
Gauge:
18 blo hdc x 9 rows = 4x4”
