Caragh
In celebration of my knitting trips to Ireland this year I have designed a sweater with yarn made in Donegal!
Caragh is a boxy sweater knit with my Novus construction, a high/low turned hem, cabled side panels, and an optional scrummy cabled cowl neck. The pattern includes notes for making your Caragh longer, and taking out the hi-low hem…. have fun with this construction, it isn’t hard to manipulate to fit you!*
It is really really really important to get gauge for this sweater, my testers had success with Arranmore Light!
Laura’s Novus Construction: First the Right Half is worked side to side from the cap sleeve to the armpit and then stitches are cast on for the front and back. Then the shoulder is worked and the stitches are split for neckline shaping. The front and back are worked at the same time and rejoined to work the left shoulder. Then the front and back stitches are put on holders, and the left sleeve is worked. Finally, the sweater is folded in half, and these two halves are joined together by cable panels that are worked perpendicularly to the body of the sweater. These panels start at the hem and end at the sleeve joining the front and the back of the sweater and sleeve together.
Any questions? We have a KAL going in my Ravelry group for Caragh!
