This bookmark pattern uses the tapestry crochet technique which involves working with multiple colors across each row. To produce the motif, the colors are switched back and forth.

Yarn and hook: in the example pictures I have used Scheepjes Maxi Sweet Treat and a 1,25mm hook, but any cotton crochet thread will work. Choose a hook size appropriate for your yarn selection. You’ll need 3 different colors.

Level: intermediate or adventurous beginner

The pattern includes a chart, written instructions and a brief picture tutorial on how to work tapestry crochet (on the last page so that you can choose whether or not to print it). If you are new to this technique you can find excellent tutorials online. I also recommend practicing on thicker yarn before trying out this pattern which calls for very fine yarn.
