Caribou Mountains Hat
The Caribou Mountains are a mountain range in northern Alberta. Surrounding a saucer shaped plateau, the mountains are located north-east of High Level, and directly west of Wood Buffalo National Park. Caribou Mountains Wildland Park contains fragile wetland and permafrost ecosystems, and is an important refuge for threatened woodland caribou and wood bison.
YARN: Approximately 80g of worsted weight
hand spun yarn or one skein of Custom Woolen Mills Mule Spinner 2-ply.
NEEDLES: One set of five double pointed needles.
Suggested size: 4mm.
GAUGE: 10 stitches = 2 inches in stockinette.
The Caribou Mountains Hat pattern is knit in the round on five double pointed needles. If preferred, a 16” circular needle with four stitch markers can be used for the body of the hat before switching to double pointed needles for the crown decreases. 4mm needles are suggested when using a worsted weight hand spun yarn, if using Custom Woolen Mills Mule Spinner 2-ply, I suggest going down to a 3.75mm needle size to obtain the correct gauge.
