The Carmen Miranda Jumper is based off a knit that Carmen Miranda often wore in her early days in Hollywood! It is a classic 1940’s staple: the color block top. It is so versatile, fun to make, and is a great stash buster!

This jumper is knitted in pieces and seamed. I know seaming isn’t everyone’s favorite but it is a necessary construction method when doing intarsia. The colorwork method of intarsia makes the color-blocked section totally seamless and surprisingly, totally painless! I think you will be shocked at how easy it is to get the hang of this technique. The Carmen jumper is a great first intarsia project, and the pattern is chock full of helpful instruction and photos of the steps.
Squid’s School of Vintage Knitting is also currently running a knit along for this jumper, which includes additional resources and video instruction as well!

Like always, my garment patterns use a body measurement x gauge system of pattern writing, making them fully size inclusive and tailored to your personal measurements. There are plenty of resources at Squid School to get you started on this method of pattern instruction!
