Carousel Socks
Most of my designs begin with beautiful yarn…and my Carousel Socks certainly fall into that category. I was gifted a beautiful skein of yarn for my birthday by my lovely friend Nicky. Dyed up by the uber talented Vykky at West Green Loft Yarns, I knew as soon as I unwrapped ‘Carousel’ that it needed to be used in a pair of socks to showcase the beautiful shades wrapped in the skein.
In choosing a stitch pattern for the front of the socks, I again looked to the name ‘Carousel’ for my inspiration. The deceptively simply mock cables that run all the way up the front of the socks represent the ornate twisted poles that provide the mount for the beautiful vintage horses on Carousels of old. In knitting and wearing these socks I hope you are transported to the carefree days of summers past and yet to come when the Carousels come to town and all our worries seem just a little bit further away…
Instructions are given for both a toe up and a cuff down construction so that you can choose which method you wish to use. Detailed instructions for a short row heel and a wedge toe are given but you can easily incorporate your own preferred heel and toe method(s) should you wish to do so.
Links are given to video tutorials which will help you with certain steps in the pattern.
This pattern is the first in a collection of 3 Carousel Patterns. The Carousel Hat and Carousel Wrist Warmers will be coming soon. Codes are given within this pattern so that you can get discounts on the other patterns in the collection should you wish to purchase them.
