These bulky mitts work up quickly and make a great gift – or a cozy pair for yourself! The 2x2 ribbing gives a range of stretch for fit, and the optional cables create a carrefore (French for crossroad or intersection) and add a classy touch at the wrist.

These mitts are worked from the cuff towards the fingers and include thumb gussets. They may be worked as ribbing only or simple cable crosses can be added prior to starting the gussets.

The pattern is suitable for an advanced beginner. It is written as an introduction to magic loop, but you may also use needles of your choice for knitting small circumferences in the round such as 9” circulars, double pointed needles, or 2 circulars. Pattern instructions may need to be adjusted accordingly - notes are provided in the pattern for each option.

Materials:

• 1 skein Knit Picks Biggo or other bulky yarn (~110 yards per 100 grams)
• US 8 (5 mm) long circular (40”+) for magic loop
• 2 stitch markers
• Optional: Locking stitch marker and/or row counter
