Carrelage
A while ago, I was handed two skeins of La Jolia fingering weight yarn by Mira Cole of Baah Yarns. The idea was to create a double sided stranded colorwork cowl that would add a splash of color to the grey days of winter. Carrelage is the result of that colorful handoff.
The design starts with three symmetrical colorwork charts on the front side, a purl round to make the turn, and finishes with an almost solid inside panel. One of the front side charts is repeated in reversed shades to add a bit of flare to the underside which you can show off or keep as your little design secret.
Finished size: 6.75 in. x 32 in. (17 cm x 81 cm)
Gauge: 4 in. (10 cm) = 28.5 sts and 35.5 rnds
Note: Obtaining both stitch and row gauge is ideal; however, if you have to make a choice, try to get row gauge. Stitch gauge can be achieved through blocking if you are not too far off. Also, try using wooden needles which have more grip on the yarn.
