Carrick Bend Shawl
Love shawls with flexible yardage requirements? Check out The Tolstoy Collection, The Chekhov Collection, The Knitting on Safari Collection, and Greener on MY Side.
Like fairly mindless knitting for big impact? The Carrick Bend Shawl lets you accessorize your accessory with a little Celtic flair. Starting with a small garter-stitch tab and growing with increases on the edges, the main body of the shawl grows into a classic crescent shape with just enough garter to keep you interested and emphasize your progress. It’s the perfect pattern to show off a crazy dye job, complimented with a pop-color picot bind-off. But the real star of the show is the shawl’s closure, formed by tying a 4-stitch I-cord into a classic Carrick Bend mat Celtic knot. The knot is sewn onto one end of the shawl and has a hidden button on the back to fasten the shawl closed. Go for shawlette, shawl, or shlankette, as this pattern is easily adaptable to just about any yardage!
