Carrie Causey's Cabled Coffee Cup Cozy
2009
This is an easy, quick, fairly simple pattern. It would make a great last-minute gift - just add your own coffee mug!
2023 Update
Wow! It’s been a long time since I’ve made this pattern! After knitting it again after so long, I have these notes.
-
I wrote this pattern while living in the UK, with a UK yarn. This time I used Berroco Vintage Chunky, which was easily available locally.
-
I made it first exactly as originally written, and it was a little short. It fit my mug but stretched more than I really want for a comfortable fit that didn’t sag. Next time I’ll add an extra P to each outside section of the cable, and probably another row or 2 of seed stitch around the bottom. Or go up a needle size.
-
I slipped the edge stitch on the WRONG side only, for a neat edge.
-
I left the RIGHT side edge alone for accurate stitch pick up, and picked up 3 out of every 4 stitches. This was a little tight, so next time I’ll pick up 4/5.
-
I don’t know what I was thinking with a 2 st iCord… But 3 is too thick to easily tie. So, I used 3 sts, but went down 1mm needle size. That was perfect.
I will try to update the PDF with these notes later, but here they are for now, for anyone who wants them!
