The Cartier Avenue Beret (aran version) features a repeating cable pattern that is maintained throughout the hat. There are 2 options for brims and 2 yarn options that I have tested. The Feeling Good Yarn will give you a looser and airy feel, while The Petite Wool will give you a warmer and denser fabric.

This pattern is written and the body of the hat has also been charted.

Materials:

• Yarn used: One skein of one of the following:
• Wool And The Gang’s “Feeling Good Yarn” in “Mineral Pink” (wider brim) and “Eucalyptus Green” (tighter brim) (Aran/Worsted | 70% Alpaca, 7% Merino, 23% Nylon | 50 g/142 yds or 130 m)
• We Are Knitters’ “The Petite Wool” in “Natural” (wider brim) and “Marshmallow” (tighter brim”) (Aran/Worsted | 100% Wool | 100 g/153 yds or 140 m)

Other Suggestions:

• We Are Knitters’ “The Meriwool” (Heavy Worsted | 100% Superwash Merino Wool | 100 g/150 yds or 136 m)
• Or yarn that meets gauge

Needles:

• US 10/6 mm dpns
• For a tighter brim, use US 8/5 mm dpns then switch to the US 10/6 mm dpns for the body of the hat
• 1 cable needle
• 1 tapestry needle

Notions:
* 6 stitch markers

Gauge:

• 16 sts and 22 rows = 4” x 4” with US 10/6 mm

Fit:

• Fits the average woman’s head, approximately 20-24” circumference. Select the needle size for the brim of your hat according to your preference.

• Wool and the Gang’s Feeling Good Yarn - Approximately 8.5” long

• We Are Knitters’ The Petite Wool - Approximately 9” long
