Although simple in appearance, mapping out the spacing of the squares on this piece - just so - was a fairly mathematically intensive endeavour. But now that it’s done, it is easy to knit!
I was aiming for fabric that has the appearance of being checked or woven, to be used for a scarf that would appeal equally to men and women. I paid particular attention to making very neat edges that come to perfect points, to give this simple piece a very clean and polished finish.
Malabrigo Lace is light as a feather, but Sock would work just as well for this design. A heavier yarn would work too for that matter; the design is very easy to adjust for size or gauge without expending any additional mental effort :). (Notes for adjusting the size are included in pattern.)
Pattern instructions are both written and charted.
