Materials:

Scrap amounts of yarn in colors appropriate for:

• Iris (color; multicolor yarn works very well)
• Pupil (black or very dark)
• Outer edge border (light color; coordinate this color with the main “fur” color if you are adding these eyes to a larger project)

Hook appropriate to yarn size – see gauge below

Note: The project shown in the photo examples uses worsted weight yarn and a J / 6.0mm hook. Finished, they measure about 3” wide and 2.5” tall.

The iris alone (after round 3) measures 2.25” (5.7cm) across and 2” (5.1cm) top to bottom. Using a thinner yarn and/or smaller hook will create a smaller eye. Using a thicker yarn and/or a larger hook will create a larger eye. All three colors of yarn should be of similar thicknesses.
