I designed Casco Bay for my final make. wear. love. fall sweater retreat collection in 2019. Each retreat, I make a mini-collection of sweaters in yarns from our vendors, loosely focused around a theme.

This year, the theme was ‘cozy’: I wanted to create snuggle-worthy sweaters that would slip into our lives like a dream. I worked this longer-length drop-shoulder sweater in a shadow rib that breaks up the color changes, with a deep V neck and simple rib trim.

Casco Bay is available in one of two ways:

• As a traditional pattern for $10, either here on Ravelry or on my website, and
• As a custom pattern for $12.50 on CustomFit (https://amyherzogdesigns.com/product/casco-bay-pullover/)

Sizing

If you’re working from the traditional Casco Bay pattern, the finished chest circumferences are 35 (37 1⁄2, 40 1⁄2, 44, 46, 48 1⁄2, 51 1⁄2, 55, 58, 60 1⁄2, 63 1⁄2, 67)’’ / 89 (95.5, 103, 112, 117, 123, 131, 139.5, 147.5, 153.5, 161.5, 170) cm.

A custom Casco Bay pattern will be created specifically to your choice of measurements and fit.

Gauge

The traditional Casco Bay pattern is written for a gauge of 26 sts & 36 rows = 4’’/10 cm in Shadow Rib

A custom Casco Bay pattern will be written for your own personal gauge.

Materials

For the traditional pattern, I used YC Knits with Spun Right Round 100% eco-friendly super wash merino wool 350 yds / 320 m per 100g
Shown in color Quake: 5 (5, 5, 6, 6, 7, 7, 8, 8, 8, 9, 9) hanks.

For a CustomFit pattern, you can use whatever yarn (in whatever gauge) you like. I recommend Hannah Fettig’s excellent Stashbot app for yardage estimates.

Construction

In traditional pattern form, Casco Bay is available in a drop shoulder construction only.

In CustomFit form, you can choose between the original drop shoulder construction and a set-in sleeve construction with a variety of torso shaping silhouettes.
