This light as air capelette is just the bit of warmth and discretion for those spring and summer days or nights. Draped loosely over the shoulders, it curves gently to caress your shoulders and décolleté in delicate lace.
Warmth without weight and elegance without pretension.
You can also wear it as a cowl, a wispy bit of lace to fill the neckline of a spring coat if you like.
Worked in the round from the bottom to the top in one piece on circular needles. The Cast-on and first 3 rounds are worked with the yarn held double, balance is worked with one strand.
Pattern is fully written out and charted.
Sized for ladies sizes xxs to xxxl, 32 - 48 in, actual bust.
Positive ease and allowance for arms has been taken into account in the pattern.
Shaping is made by way of decreasing the12 st lace to 6 sts and shifting from larger to smaller needles.
Two versions: A (as shown ) with a wider neckline, and B, with a slightly smaller upper circumference.
To adjust the width of the neckline furhter, thread a couple metres of delicate ribbon through the eyelette row, cinch to desired size & secure with a simple bow.
The Schulana Kid-Seta was lovely to work with, Rowan Kidsilk Haze or similar fluffy yarn would suit as well. This could also be made in another lace weight or even a fingering weight, just be sure to check your gauge after blocking.
What you need:
circular needles 4.0 and 4.5 mm or needles to achieve gauge
sizes xxs to m - two balls exactly of Kid-Seta, 420 m (458 yds)
sizes l to xxxl - three (3) balls of Kid-Seta, 630 m (687 yds)
Size M shown - model, actual bust 96cm (38 in.), used exactly 2 balls ( only about 5 m (5.4 yds) left over!)
2 m (2.1 yds) ribbon - optional
I think this would be the perfect garment for those in a wedding party, or even those attending!
