Cashmere Lace Blouse
I wanted a lacy stitch for this top, one that was delicate but geometric to echo the deep angled ribbing. I came across a very old stitch pattern called English Mesh Lace. It resembles metal filigree with its trellis-like grid, the lines of which appear to alternately recede and advance, with a leafy filler inside the diamonds of the grid.
While the back and sleeve pieces of this sweater are straightforward, the front features top-aligned short rows that curve the ribbed waistband so it is highest at center; bottom-aligned short rows are then worked at each side within the lace pattern to compensate. The ribbed front bands, which are picked up and knit into the center, also employ short rows to extend at the neck. -- description from Loop-d-Loop, pgs. 79 & 106 (pattern on pg. 106)
Additional Gauge Info: 30 sts / 42 rows = 4" in English Lace pattern
