Casia Cropped Cardigan
Description
The Casia Cropped Cardigan is a feminine cardigan featuring raglan and puffed sleeves that gradually narrow towards the wrists. It also has a wide ribbed edge band designed to sit at the waist. Despite the puffed sleeves, the cardigan is seamless, as the puff effect is created through increases and decreases. The cardigan is knitted from the top down, allowing you to adjust the length of both the sleeves and the body.
Sizes
XS (S) M (L) XL
Finished Measurements
Bust circumference: approximately 95 (99) 106 (113) 118 cm.
Sleeve length measured from under the armhole: approximately 42 (43) 45 (48) 48 cm.
Body length measured from the center back (CB): approximately 48 (50) 53 (55) 56 cm.
The cardigan is designed with a movement allowance of 0-10 cm. The model in the photo has a bust measurement of approximately 84 cm and is wearing a size XS. The recommendation is to aim for a wide ease in the smaller sizes and a narrower ease in the larger sizes.
Materials
200 (200) 250 (250) 300 g Merilin from Isager Yarn (208 m/50 g) held together with 100 (100) 125 (125) 150 g Silk Mohair from Isager Yarn (212 m/25 g) or a similar silk mohair quality, e.g., Soft Silk Mohair from Knitting for Olive or Önling No. 10 from Önling (210 m/25 g).
For a slightly lighter look with just one strand, you can choose 175 (175) 200 (225) 250 g Classic Alpaca from Rowan (120 m/25 g).
The cardigan in the photo is knitted with Merilin in color 10 held together with Silk Mohair in color 11, both from Isager Yarn. In addition to the yarn, you will need 5 buttons, approximately 15 mm in size, and 10 stitch markers.
Recommended Needles
The cardigan is knitted in stockinette stitch back and forth on 4 mm circular needles (80 cm) using one strand of each yarn.
All ribbed edges are knitted on 3 mm circular needles (80 cm).
Double-pointed needles are used for the part of the band/button placket that runs along the neckline and the top of the sleeves. You will need 3 of these.
I recommend the Magic Loop method for knitting the sleeves and their ribbed edges. If you do not use the Magic Loop method, you will also need one 4 mm circular needle (40 cm) and one 3 mm circular needle (40 cm).
Gauge
19 stitches x 27 rows = 10 x 10 cm on 4 mm needles, back and forth in stockinette stitch.
