The Casla Cowl—sister design to the Casla Hat—with intersecting cables is named for the small village of Casla in County Galway, Ireland not far from the Atlantic coast. The rustic, rocky shore of this part of Ireland inspired all of the intertwining paths in this engaging, heavily-cabled cowl.

The Casla Cowl—with both written and charted directions—is exciting from the first stitch until the last.

It is written in one size to be knit in worsted weight yarn for a classic and wearable finished object.

It’s suitable for an intermediate knitter but interesting enough for a more advanced one.

Needle:
US 8 (5.0 mm), 16” (40 cm) circular needles or needles needed to get gauge

Suggested Yarn: Universal Yarn, Deluxe Worsted, Worsted, 1 skein, 100% Wool; 220 yds (200 m)/100 g or any worsted weight yarn of your choosing

Sample uses: Natural, approx. 205 yards (188 m).

Gauge: 20 stitches/25 rounds = 4” (10 cm) square in Body Section using US 8 (5.0 mm) needles or whatever size needle gives you the fabric you would like.

Other Notions: Cable needle, darning needle, 1 BOR marker and 2 stitch markers for cables.

Special Techniques:
Knit, purl, cables, charts (written directions available), decreases (k2tog, p2tog), increases (m1r, m1purlwise), cast on & bind off.

Final Measurements:
20” (50 cm) circumference x 9.5” (24 cm) tall.
