This is a fairly easy pattern to follow, but I still wouldn’t recommend it for beginners. I am, however, available if anyone needs help.

This pattern was designed to fit whatever yarn you’d like to use. However, I’d recommend yarn suited for hook B/1 – G/6 as thicker yarns will make it feel too chunky because of the post stitches used. Also, I’ll recommend unicolored yarns or yarn cakes with long, smooth color changes. The fine texture and the 3D effect will easily drown in too many colors.

My green/ blue shawl was worked in Scheepjes Whirl ”Jade JimJam”, which is 60% cotton and 40% acrylic. My yellow shawl was worked in Cotton Kings Twirls Deluxe color 22 ”Cora Sun-drop”, which is 100% cotton. I used up the entire cake (1000 meters / 1094 yards) for both and I used a 3mm hook (which is between B/1 and C/2).
I can also recommend Wollium for this project or any unicolored type yarn.

Size of shawl: 81 inches x 24 inches (upper border x height perpendicular to the upper border and down to the tip) but you can easily go on and make it bigger or stop earlier on to make it smaller.

Gauche: it wouldn’t really be of importance which tension you keep since you simply continue the pattern till you find your shawl big enough. My advice is to make it as you want it. If you find it too stiff and rigid, start over with lower tension or a bigger hook. However, I had 22 post stitches times 17 rows for 10x10 centimeters (4x4 inches). My tension is usually a bit low since I personally prefer it that way.
