Castles are beautiful and mysterious, witness to generations of war, political intrigue, family dynasties, art and culture. If only those bricks and stone could talk, the stories they could tell. Well you or I may not be able to live in a castle (or make it talk) but when you knit up these mittens they can live on you. Inspired by a castle I was fortunate enough to visit in Portugal, I liked the tile pattern so much that I also made up mittens with just the tile pattern. So this PDF contains charts for 3 versions of the mittens, a castle in the daytime, a castle in the nighttime and a surprise extra treasure mitten pattern of just the castle tiles. Lordly enough for a King, elegant enough for a Queen and engaging enough for the discerning knitter looking to add to their pattern collection.

This mitten knitting pattern is recommended for intermediate knitters familiar with reading charts and stranded colorwork. The pattern is on a downloadable PDF digital file available immediately upon payment and includes instructions and easy to follow design charts.

You can knit these mittens in any two contrasting colors in the yarn of your choice. They work really well with solid colors or with self striping or hue changing yarns as your background color. All mittens pictured were knit using sock / fingering weight and US size 1.5 / 2.5mm needles for a Women’s Medium / Teen size. You could easily adjust knit a Men’s size using a larger needles.
