I am thoroughly enjoying the resurgence of the poncho. Wearing a poncho is the socially acceptable version of wearing a blanket all day. In fact, wearing a poncho is even better than being wrapped in a blanket because you are able to move around without worrying about it falling off!
This poncho was designed with a nod to my Irish heritage. Castlebar is the capital of the county my family is from, County Mayo. The Celtic style cables add a touch of sophistication to a simple and easy-to-wear garment. Visit my Ravelry store to see my full “Irish Roots” collection, inspired by my Irish heritage.

US 6/4mm 32” circular needle (or size to obtain gauge)*
US 5/3.75mm 16” circular needle (or size to obtain gauge)
If you wish to use fewer needles, you can use the magic loop method and a needle that is 40 or 60” long as a substitute for the two US 6/4mm needles. I used a 60” needle so I could easily try on my poncho as I knit.
