This is a pattern for both a cat and a dog Christmas stocking using fair isle technique and knitting in the round. There are lots of photos showing the cast on, the heel and the toe.

Kids and animal lovers will probably prefer these designs to more traditional Christmas stockings, after all who doesn’t love cats or dogs.

The size will depend on the yarn used, I recommend double knitting yarn/ worsted weight yarn. To make it really big, use chunky yarn and circular knitting needles.

It is an advantage if you know how to knit socks and/ or knit fair isle patterns.
