Cat Beanie
The Cat beanie is a quick fluffy knit with mohair and fingering yarn held together for a fluffy furry texture. The 1x1 ribbing provides added flexibility for different head sizes with brim length adjustments for toddler, child and adult sizing.
Sizes
Baby, Toddler (Child, Adult)
Circumference: Baby: 11” (28cm), Toddler, child & adult: 17” (43cm) unstretched. Note: Because of 1x1 ribbing, the finished circumference fits all sizes, however, brim length instructions are longer for larger sizes. Baby size fits an average 3-6 month old (approx. 16+”) but maybe be a little large for a newborn. For newborn sizing reduce brim length to 3”. For large adult head sizes
Height: 4, 5, (5.5, 6) inches 11.5, 12.5 (14, 16) cm unstretched.

Yarn A (MC)
This pattern calls for 2 or 3 strands held together to make up a DK-weight yarn. Any fingering weight yarn held double or triple with 1 or 2 strands of mohair or alpaca will work well to provide the furry texture. Alpaca and Suri are great furry options for those who don’t tolerate mohair well.
Sample knit with two strands of Lana Gatto Silk Mohair (6027 white), 75% Superkid mohair 25% silk) 2 x balls of 25g. Held together with one strand of Madeline Tosh Merino Light in Antler.
Good Alternative Options include:
- Two strands of Drops of Alpaca Silk (white) Content: 77% Alpaca, 23% Silk (Aran).
- One strand of Rowan Alpaca Classic (white) 57% Alpaca, 43% Cotton + one strand of mohair.
- A single-strand Blue Sky Fibers Melted Baby Suri for an extra soft and fluffy version.
Note: For baby sizing, you can use one strand of fingering (or 2 strands of mohair held double) and follow the same instructions provided for Toddler - Adult sizing but on the smaller USA 0 - 2 size needles; OR you can use the standard weight and needle size but CO 96sts (and follow adjusted instructions provided under “Baby Sizing”).
Yarn B (CC)
Any furry white mohair, alpaca or Suri yarn will work well for the insides of the ears. Sample knit in Blue Sky Fibers Brushed Suri 900 Whipped Cream (BSF - 900).
MATERIALS
A small amount of stuffing for ears; 3 x stitch markers; tapestry needle to weave in ends; cable needle (optional).
