Cat lovers will agree, that when our kitties take loaf pose and tuck in everything underneath them to resemble a loaf of bread, it is heart-melting cuteness overload. Search google, and you’ll find over 23 million pages dedicated to pictures of loafing cats!

This pattern includes instruction for several yarn types and weights, that have been tested to ensure you can make a cat loaf in any weight yarn you have on hand. Naked cat loaves look a little funny, but use a yarn that can be brushed, and it suddenly takes on adorable realism, and doesn’t require any changes to the pattern. :)

The body is worked in one piece, with the head and front ankles being sewn separately.

For this pattern, less than 1 ball of yarn is used for the cats in sport weight or bulky, but because of the lower yardages of the super bulky yarn I used 3 full balls for the biggest fluffiest version done in the calico pattern, or about 350 grams. If you plan to brush out for a fur look, yarn chosen should have a minimum of 2 strands plied together - roving types are not recommended if you will be brushing, as this will make the stitches weak and stretched.
