Cat-thulhu
Please note that this is a digital PDF download of a crochet pattern, NOT a finished toy!
Note: This is pattern #1 in my Myths and Meownsters series. Patterns will be released throughout 2022, and there will be a pattern bundle available at the end of the year!
Despite being significantly less well-known than his infamous cousin, Cthulhu, Cat-thulhu is every bit as terrifying! With the tentacles of an octopus, the wings of a dragon, and the body of a cat, this meownster is no tame house cat! Those little paws might look cute, but they can turn into lethal weapons in an instant. It’s rumored that staring at Cat-thulhu for too long causes a loss of sanity, so beware!
Languages: English (US terms) and Spanish
This 11-page crochet pattern contains all of the instructions and photos you will need in order to create your own Cat-thulhu. There is also an additional 5-page printer-friendly version of the pattern included. The head, body and legs are all crocheted as one piece, and the tentacles are crocheted directly on the head, so relatively little sewing is needed! This pattern has been thoroughly tested and proofread to be easy to follow. You are welcome to sell finished objects made from this pattern.
Skill-level: Intermediate
The recommended yarn/hook combo will result in a project ~7 in/17 cm tall. However, feel free to use your preferred yarn/hook combo. Using a thicker yarn will result in a larger finished project. Basic crochet techniques and stitches (magic ring, single crochet, slip stitch, chain, increase, invisible decrease, half-double crochet, double crochet, popcorn stitch, and working into front/back-loop stitches) are used in this pattern. Instructions are provided for face shaping and working into a chain loop.
