Cat's Paw
Cat’s Paw is the second shawl in the new trio of shawls for Sexy Spines Volume 2! The Plucky Yarn Company sent me some of their Bello Fingering in the gorgeous colorway “Forward In Flats.” Cat’s Paw uses several Shetland style patterns from the Cat’s Paw pattern itself, to the zig zags along the back. The knitted on lace edging uses faggoting, lace insertions and a Cat’s Paw border to bring the design together. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
Charted instructions with written support
Construction: This shawl is knit top down with increases on both sides to create its crescent shape. When the body is finished, the stitches for Cat’s Paw lace edging are cast on using a knitted CO. The border is knit back and forth joining the last stitch of every RS row together with a stitch from the main body.
Dimensions:17 inches down the center back and 36 inches from the bottom of the center back to the tips. Measuring across the top when laid flat it measures 57 inches wide.
Yardage: Approximately 1000 yds; I used both skeins and there was only a tiny bit left of the second skein. If you are a loose knitter you will need to account for it in your yardage. I have added generous yardage estimates for loose knitters.
